Mascot: How They Impact The Customer

Mascot is a symbolic representation of a group with a public identity that is common, like a school, professional sports team, army unit, or a well known brand name. Most are used as fictional spokesperson for products such as cereals and other consumer products. They are used to symbolize a number of significant organizations such as sports teams, schools, or consumer production companies.

When incorporated into sports, they are often used as a major role in advertising. The team representative may take on the image of a live animal, a costumed character, logo, or person. The meaning of it is traced back to earlier days, where it was used to symbolize anything that brings luck to a household.

They are also commonly incorporated into military rituals and the marines, as a standard logo to symbolize the group. Animal characters are often used as a symbol of a school or sports team to encourage crowd participation. Tying in what people are more familiar with is a definite way to inspire crowd participation.

Often there are fictional animals or cartoon characters that are used to symbolize a team or a cereal brand. Lots of times the logo is what will symbolize the definition of company, for example a turtle shell might symbolize that the company promises strength with the use of product.

Usually individuals are more familiar with the strength and power of natural elements, like a product which is tied to a natural phenomenon. Some consumer companies such as those of cleaning products use actual human beings depicted in the advertisements. The representation should be something that gives individuals the ability to relate to the company and the values the distributors want the consumers to perceive as having.

A stern sheriff with the attitude of tolerating no nonsense could be used to depict the intentions of a pest control company. A super hero may be used to depict the selling of office supplies, rushing to the rescue of workers in distress at the office. The character should be attractive enough to be appealing, but not so hyped up that the advertising is creepy.

In a normal setting, the character that is the representative of team traditionally should conceal the identity. In some cases, a person who is acting as the representative could be fired if they say anything. This is true in such cases where there are costumed characters at an amusement park. There are a few rituals a person must adhere to if they are to represent such organizations.

Commonly they are a representation of consumer brand and what the products can do for the benefit of consumer. Ideally, a cartoon character or a symbolic animal is chosen to depict the advertising. A successful team no doubt is successful because of meaning that is carried in the logo. For this reason, it is a critical decision when it comes to selecting the appropriate logo of an organization, raising the bar in what the company can do for the consumer and the family.
