When deciding what to wear on that special day the groom's suit is usually less complicated as the bridal gown. Just as any other groom the prince, William, has been deciding what to wear for his big wedding. The prince is of course a military officer and has therefore decided that a military uniform will be perfect for the occasion. The tailor Gieves and Hawkes of London will be producing his attire for the royal wedding.However, what is still not sure is which military uniform he will be wearing as he is trained in all three military divisions, army, air force and navy. His grandfather Prince Philip will of course be fully adorned in military attire with all his medals and gold.
It is important to note that even though the gentlemen of the royal family will be in military uniform, other guests will not be. Due to the time of the wedding, around 11am, most of the gentlemen will be in morning suits. A morning suit consists of three main elements (morning coat, waistcoat and trousers). These items are usually the same colour, often grey, black or blue.
We have already found out by the media this week that the prime minster will be wearing tails rather than his traditional work suit. David Cameron will be arriving to the royal wedding in a traditional morning suit of a black coat with tails.
Some fashion experts believe guests will also be fashioning the more modern lounge suits which are an alternative to the traditional morning suit. However, this slight break in British heritage will not likely to be too exaggerated as most people will keep to classic colours such as grey, black and blue and maybe even a hint of brown might be seen.
Will there be any other twists on convention? Fashion experts feel that any extra pizzazz should be kept down to the finer details such as cufflinks and ties. Ties with bolder colours, perhaps even floral patterns might be on show at the royal wedding.
